Framework:
We conduct a 2-hour session once a week every Friday.
Each 2 hour session would be divided into a Science lesson as well as a Mathematics Lesson.
Teamwork: Our team of 6 is divided into 2 committees, the Maths and Science committees. Each committee will be in charge of each week’s Maths and Science parts of the Rainbow lesson respectively. In addition, these roles are divided amongst us: leader, secretary, webmaster, reflections compiler, PowerPoint presentation preparer We meet up every Wednesday to discuss the week’s lesson plan, and everyone will rotate in their committee to get a chance to prepare a lesson once in every 3 weeks.
Strategies: Keep ourselves updated on latest findings in education realm to add value to our lessons Attending Meet the People sessions in Teck Ghee to better understand the needs of low-income families and be able to better relate to tutees Bring tutees out on excursions (eg. To Science Centre Omnitheatre) so learning will not be confined to just the classroom
Research on learning styles, survey tutees’ learning styles and make use of our knowledge on their learning styles to better suit our lessons for them The lessons are catered especially to the different learning styles of the tutees, of which we have identified
(1) Kinesthetic (2) Visual (3) Auditory
to be the most common learning styles amongst our tutees.
